THANKS TO TPD & NEIGHBORS!

I got an email and I thought it would be nice to post it.  The Thank You to neighbors is important, but another thing is, that it shows someone who was unsure about calling in,,,,,,,,did so and got results.

This is from a neighbor who had noticed for a couple of weeks that there was a gathering of school age boys on a lot near his house.  This is his email from yesterday........

There have been several youths varying ages hangin around the empty lot
across from my house (1218 East XXXX st.) At 12:21 this afternoon.  We (me
& my neighbors) have seen them "Just Hangin" at the corner of 13th & XXXX,
and a couple of times even in the alley smoking & urinating the police have
been called once that I know of.

The house across from me is 1317 East XXXX and empty, the same kids just
hang around there also.

This has just started happening about a month now.

From today:

I finally got the nerve to call the non emergency line.  There they were again, the same guys that were there yesterday.  I remained calm, while the prerecorded announcement played.  Answered the young lady's questions as best I could.

And in about 15 minutes, 5 were arrested!

A special thanks to my neighbors who came out to help.

Hit & Run Arrest

I just received this email:

Tip From Media Coverage Leads to Arrest

in Fatal Hit and Run

SUSPECT:  Elonda Yvette Gibbs, B/M, DOB: 10/12/80, 2107 East Lambright Street, Tampa

            CHARGES:  Leaving the Scene of an Accident Involving Death

            VICTIM:  Mark McQuillen, W/M, DOB: 5/27/63,

            4110 Skipper Road Apt. 102, Tampa

Mark McQuillen was crossing Nebraska Avenue on 3/24/07 at Broad Street when he was hit by a car that fled the scene. The crash killed McQuillen. Tampa Police Hit and Run Detectives released a description of the car the suspect was driving. A citizen recognized the car from local television news stories and contacted police. Her tip eventually lead to the arrest of the suspect.
