Please find attached a copy of a Notice being disseminated by some
unscrupulous folks attempting to bilk some money from unsuspecting
homeowners. The second paragraph of the Notice implies that "...police,
fire, ambulance, parcel and delivery services have recommended this type
of address placement." The Notice goes on to attempt to frighten
homeowners/residents that if they do not sign up and pay for this
service, that emergency assistance might be hindered. All of which is
absolutely false. In fact curb-painting is not recommended and will not
meet the County Addressing Ordinance. Painted curb numbers fade
rapidly, can be obstructed by leaves and yard debris, and become useless
when a vehicle is parked at the curb.
I'm attaching a copy of our "Guidelines for Proper Posting of
Addresses", and aks that you provide email notices to your Homeowner
Listing informing them of the curb painting scam that has once again
started, and also to provide them with the actual Guidelines that they
might disseminate to their respective groups.
Thank you for your assistance, and I hope we can save some unsuspecting
homeowners from falling victim to this latest scam.
Sincerely,
George H. King
Manager, Ordinance Compliance Unit
