Hello everyone!
The garden would like to try to put together a "Harvest for the Hungry" event on Dec. 11th. This is a little different than collecting food. We would like to try to harvest citrus in the Greater Seminole Heights area and donate it to local food banks, etc.
I think this could be a great opportunity to get all the residents and businesses involved to do something great for Tampa's orgs that help the hungry. Metropolitan Ministries is on board with a donation. We are still looking for more orgs to accept donations. I've left a msg with Tampa Bay Harvest. If you know of food banks or other orgs that might like to accept donations - would you please let me know who they are, so I may contact them?
I am putting together some flyers to print and send out through email, if you are able, would you please forward the flyers to your respective email lists - we would certainly appreciate it. If you have businesses that would be willing to post and/or print flyers & posters, please let me know. We're hoping to garner enough volunteers to help with passing out flyers in the neighborhood and help with promoting the event.
The flyer will be asking for volunteers to help organize, scout for citrus donors, promote and set up logistics for the event along with announcing the event itself.
I thank all of you for everything you do for the community. I hope we can make this a great event, even with the little time we have to put it all together.
All my best,
Robin
