Brewery Tasting

Hello Everyone,

Hope your summer is going well!

 Just a reminder that this Saturday the 23^rd  we are having our monthly brewery tour and beer tasting open to the public, 1pm-4pm. Cold Storage Craft Brewery, brewers of Florida Ave Ales, is located at 4101 N. Florida Ave, one block north of MLK. These tastings have been so much fun; if you’re free you should come by. The tour and a pint logoed glass are $10 and you get to sample all three styles of beer, American ale, blueberry and IPA.

 Some of you have asked what you can do to help us out in our new venture, well, for one thing you can forward this email to all your friends and you can ask for Florida Ave Ales wherever you eat, party and shop for groceries or alcohol!!!!! BUCCANEERS ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR STUDENT AMBASSADORS

For Immediate Release: April 8, 2011     Buccaneers Accepting Applications for 2011-2012 Student Ambassadors     The Buccaneers are currently accepting applications for the 2011-2012 Student Ambassadors program. Buccaneers Student Ambassadors (formerly Student Advisory Board) was formed in 1999 to connect Tampa Bay's youth with the Buccaneers' community outreach efforts. The program is entering its thirteenth year of service in the Bay area and is looking to continue its tradition of giving back.   The Buccaneers are looking for 40 intelligent, energetic and motivated students entering their sophomore, junior or senior years from high schools in West Central Florida. This select group will perform community service projects, create spirit in local schools and develop leadership skills in preparation for continuing education. Members will also attend all Buccaneers home games, working half of the season as customer service representatives in the East and West Club Lounges and enjoying the other half as fans from the first two rows in the end zone. During their one-year term, Ambassadors will also tour the team's training facility, learn from distinguished guest speakers at monthly meetings and participate in charitable events as representatives of the Buccaneers.   To apply for the 2011-2012 Buccaneers Student Ambassadors program, please visit the "Community" section of www.buccaneers.com. Experience the art of recycling with local youth and artists submitting pieces made from reused or recycled material.  Winning selections will be displayed for public viewing at the Florida Aqurium from March 26-April 2.      RECYCLING EXPO.... 2011 Friday Extra Concert Series

March 8, 2011 -

This year's Friday Extra Concert Series features some of the Tampa area's most talented acts playing jazz, rock, blues and country.

 The series runs Friday evenings in April and May beginning at 7 p.m.. April's concerts take place downtown at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park while May's shows happen at the Lowry Park Bandshell.

 The 2011 Friday Extra lineup:

 April 1: O Som do Jazz with Larue Nickelson and Jeremy Powell (jazz)

April 8: Poetry 'n Lotion (bluegrass/jazz) with Acho Brother (Latin/electronica)

April 15: Lois Greco with Al "Coffee" McDaniel (blues)

April 29: Whitney James with Roberts and Vanstone (jazz)

May 6: Ditchflowers with Ed Woltil and Steve Robinson (pop-rock)

May 13: Have Gun, Will Travel with Lauris Vidal (alt-country)

Please note: there will be no concert on Good Friday, April 22.

Admission to all concerts is free. Alcohol is prohibited in city parks.  The Friday Extra Concert Series is produced by the City of Tampa Parks and Recreation Department and sponsored by Tampa Tribune and the Friends of Tampa Recreation, Inc.

 

BUCCANEERS ACCEPTING NOMINATIONS FOR "MOTHER'S DAY MAKEOVERS"

Buccaneers Accepting Nominations for "Mother's Day Makeovers"

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers "Mother's Day Makeover" program is giving away a once-in-a-lifetime experience to five mothers in West Central Florida in honor of Mother's Day. The Buccaneers are in search of mothers who would benefit from a day of pampering, a new wardrobe and an evening out with their family. The team is requesting the help of local fans in nominating deserving mothers for the makeovers.   Following a selection process, the five mothers will visit One Buccaneer Place, the team's state-of-the-art headquarters, where a limousine will take them on a shopping spree at a local retail store. After the spree, the mothers will be treated to lunch and a salon makeover. They will then return to the Buccaneers' facility for their makeover unveiling at a formal dinner with their family and friends, along with Buccaneers officials.   Below is a list of eligibility requirements, consents and releases:   Mothers must be 18 years of age by April 15, 2011 to be nominated. All nominations must be received by April 15, 2011. Nominees selected for further review must execute all required waivers and release agreements. Nominees may be contacted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at any time in the future. Only complete applications will be considered. Only one entry per person is allowed. Same Gender Classroom and School Parent Information Meeting

International Expert Leonard Sax to Speak

Tampa, Fla. – (March 16, 2011) – Hillsborough County Public Schools will host a
parent information meeting on same gender classrooms and schools featuring Dr.
Leonard Sax, M.D., Ph.D. on Friday, March 25, 2011, at 6:00 p.m. in the Middleton High
School Auditorium.

Dr. Sax’s presentation on how students benefit from same gender settings is
geared toward prospective families and those whose children will be attending
Hillsborough county’s new preparatory academies. The school district is converting
Franklin Middle Magnet School to a Boys Preparatory Academy and Ferrell Middle
Magnet School to a Girls Preparatory Academy.

Dr. Sax is a physician, psychologist, best-selling author and acknowledged
national expert concerning gender differences in learning. He is the founder of the
National Association of Single Sex Public Education (NASSPE), a not-for-profit
organization that promotes knowledge of gender differences in classrooms and schools.
Middleton is located at 4801 North 22nd Street, Tampa.
